Revenues up 96% in 2017
The Board of Friends of Fresh and Green Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in New York, NY, is pleased to announce its financial results for the year ended June 30, 2017. The organization was founded in 2008 to support the Fresh and Green Academy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This is a school for underprivileged children who receive daily nutrition and basic medical care in addition to being educated. The organization also promotes the Mothers Cooperative there, which seeks to empower disadvantaged women through training in various craft disciplines, so that they can provide for their families in the future.
Several highlights can be drawn from this data:
- Gross revenues increased 96% from the previous year to $173,000
- Credit card debt incurred in the previous year to keep the basic functions of the school in operation were eliminated
- 78% of the gross revenues were used for school support to satisfy the organization’s mandate. Nearly $135,000 was used to support the Academy and Mothers Cooperative.
- Bank and interest charges were higher than normal due to inefficiencies and penalties as the revenues from the previous year were much lower than average. This should improve going forward.
