2- Sponsor a Child

The children of Fresh and Green Academy attend school all year round so they are able to eat throughout the summer.

The Academy is of vital importance to the children it serves because this school is the only place they eat. While classes are scaled back during the summer, the children still attend school from 8am till 5pm, attending both academic and extra curricular classes. Summer is also a time many volunteers visit and help with English language and other life skills. Your donations through our “Child Sponsorship Program” help keep the school functioning all year round so it can continue to provide a safe and loving environment and the nourishment and care needed for the children to survive and thrive.

3- Take Part in an Upcoming Event or Volunteer.

We are planning events all summer and looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our board!

We are planning fundraising events in San Jose, CA, Portland, OR and New York City, NY in the upcoming months. If you are in one of those areas, and would like to join a planning committee or volunteer in another capacity, please contact Trish at trish@FriendsOfFreshAndGreen.com for more information.

We are also in the process of growing our board! If you have passion and are willing to “roll up your sleeves” and help with fundraising and some organizational work, we want you!

The ESFNA Ethiopian Soccer Event Was a Huge Success!

The ESFNA Ethiopian Soccer Event Was a Huge Success!

Last week Friends of Fresh and Green Academy had a booth at the Ethiopian  Soccer Federation of North America (ESFNA) soccer tournament at the University of Maryland’s Byrd Stadium. The event was a huge success and we were able to raise over $3,000. for the women and children of Fresh and Green Academy!

This was the 30 year anniversary of the event and it was jam packed with first rate Ethiopian entertainment, including Teddy Afro!

The ESFNA staff was so helpful and pulled off an amazing celebration!

This year’s theme was Female Empowerment, and we were able to do our part to help empower our mothers economically by selling their crafts and special t-shirts. We still have some shirts available and if you make a donation of $25 or more, we will send one to you.

We also held a raffle for an iPad mini and the winner hailed from Alexandria, Virginia. Thank you to all who stopped by and helped us to make a difference in so many lives.
